eBay sucks for Sellers, Great for Scammers.

If you have been thinking of selling on eBay, Don’t. Look at any of the other 100 sites you can sell on. You will get scammed at some point or your reputation damaged if you don’t give in to the Scammer, and eBay does not care .

On my last sale of a nativity set, it stated in the description…. Although we take reasonable care in preparing this fragile item for shipment, it is possible that some glued-on detail parts may become loose during transit.  These parts typically detach at the glue joint, with little or no actual damage to the part itself.  We cannot guarantee that this will not happen, and it will not be considered as a defect or “item not as described”.  Since it is usually very easy to repair such detachment with a small application of glue, the Buyer shall assume responsibility for such a repair, without any further obligation from the Seller.  Return requests based upon the type of easily repaired detachment described above will NOT be authorized.  Purchase of this item constitutes the Buyer’s agreement with these terms.  Seriously, if you do not agree to our terms, then do not buy it!

The buyer sent me a photo saying the item arrived damaged. They were holding a little broom that became detached at the glue point. Here is our conversation after that.

This item came damaged.

That’s how you are going to handle this??? I will never buy from you again. And I work with 30,000 people and I will make sure to let them know by sending a mass email not to buy from you as well. I’m the customer and you obviously dont care about your customers.

Some advise. Start caring about your people .

I called eBay to get the feedback removed. They said there was nothing they could do. They said I should report the buyer so if they were to see a pattern with this buyer, they can suspend their account. That does nothing for my feedback now. And they would just open another account. Pointless. You can’t leave a buyer a negative feedback, pointless also. With 150 positive feedback and 2 negative, I’m at 97%.

You can try to protect yourself all you want. The buyer has the upper hand with eBay.

I will continue selling on Poshmark,  FB MarketPlace and I own a Thrift Store. I will look into selling on Mecari and others.

Best of luck where ever you decide to sell your items.
